Brief

The brief was to launch Lululemon’s lifestyle pants across Australia and New Zealand, positioning them as the premium, high-style, high-performance choice. Following the pace of spring, the films move from home to track, routines to rituals and pre to post workout.

Solution

I was brought in by Push as the editor, working alongside director Lucy Jane Brand, taking the films, a 15-second hero and a 6-second cutdown, from first assembly through to final delivery across the offline cut, colour and sound design.

Shot within a stadium and the streets around it, the rushes were full of the quiet, intimate moments that exist before and after movement: small glances, transitions and resets that gave the films their rhythm. A big part of my job was finding those moments and giving them space.

Sound design was one of the most enjoyable parts of the edit. The film opens and closes on a breath, with everything in between almost unfolding inside that single exhale, while a subtle heartbeat sits underneath like a kick drum, giving the film pulse without breaking its calm.

The soundscape for this one was all about the outdoors, moving between the hush of quiet mornings and the hum of busy city afternoons, so the films could keep their pace while still feeling open, relaxed and unhurried.
