Brief

Freedom’s Online Exclusive range runs to more than 60,000 products, tens of thousands you’ll never see in a store. Trouble is, most people still treat online as the fallback, not the destination. The job was to make that range feel genuinely endless: warm, colourful, full of possibility, and not a wall of product shots.

Solution

We didn’t want to hand Freedom a campaign with two hero pieces and a nice end frame. We wanted to build them a world, one they could keep scaling, swapping categories and products in and out of, until it actually felt like all 60,000.

My part started before the cameras did. I set us a rule, mostly because it sounded fun: express “online” without showing anything digital. No screens, no cursors, no UI. Make endless choice feel human, physical and a bit handmade.

So the set became the website. Arrows we made by hand. Swatches we cut out and painted. A search bar to tie the whole thing together. And a narrator doing the customer-support voice, walking you through the range.

Then the part I’d honestly call my biggest contribution: finding Adriane Neshoda to direct it. She brought her all-star team and gave the film a feeling you could never have briefed into existence. Most of what people love about it is theirs.

Result

Freedom’s first ORIAS golds, two of them in one night: Best Online Retail Marketing and Best Social Media Initiative, both for this campaign. New creative territory for the brand and, importantly, it worked.

The world kept going too, and that one’s on Freedom. They took a single shoot and built a whole system out of it, using AI to extend the look across 450+ products and hundreds of variations: dining, living, bedroom, lighting, rugs. They saw it, they solved it, they went and did it. The creative now grows as the range does, which was always the point, and is entirely to their credit.

And it came full circle. The same creative now runs on the digital banners inside Freedom’s physical stores. A campaign built to make the digital world feel physical, playing back through digital screens in the physical one. Every touchpoint, one idea.

Behind the curtain

The physical world behaves like Freedom’s website.

The whole film hangs off that one sentence. The rest of this page is what it took to make it true: motion tests, props you could hold, boards drawn tight enough to shoot fast.

The camera browses
Web motivated movement. Sideways moves like scrolling, spaces that refresh mid shot, a street that never ends.
Made physical
Hand-made gloss black arrow prop held on set
Set paint swatches drying on cardboard in the sun
UI you can hold. Arrows cut with handles on the back and a gloss top coat, set colours tested in the sun.
Sketch to screen
Storyboard page for the bedroom set, from first pose to the caterpillar and butterfly reveal
The bedroom board. Drawn tight so the shoot day could move fast.
Storyboard panel, the FREEDOM search bar sketched over Juliette
The finished frame, the FREEDOM search bar over Dakota on set
Panel two of the board, and the frame it became.
