Brief

The brief was to launch the newly appointed Afterpay Arena with a social-first film built around Brad and Rod, a pair of wonderfully deadpan characters making their way through the venue.

Solution

I was brought in to handle both the offline and online edit, taking the project from the first assembly through to final delivery. With three cameras, four isolated audio tracks and more than eight hours of footage, the job was really about finding the story hiding inside it all.

Working side by side with Push director Berni, we pulled out the conversations, pauses and reactions that gave the film its rhythm. The shoot wrapped Thursday, with the first cut due Monday, so we moved quickly and stayed close to the material, shaping a playful introduction to the arena that connected back to Afterpay’s Time Well Spent platform.

It was a real honour to play a small part in such a big moment for an iconic venue, alongside an incredible client and agency team. A good reminder that sometimes the best way I can add value is simply plugging into post, finding the story and helping get the work over the line.
